USCG Barque Eagle – Service Life Extension Program
We are excited to announce that we will be supporting the United States Coast Guard on the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) for the USCG Barque Eagle. The Barque Eagle is the tall ship training vessel for the USCG Academy. This vessel was built at the Blohm + Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany in 1936. At the close of WW2 this ship was taken by the U.S. from the Germans as a war reparation. The Eagle’s datasheet can be found here.
Tridentis will be performing naval architecture and marine engineering services to extend the service life of this vessel. This is a multiyear program including a tremendous amount of engineering work. Some of the services we will be providing include:
- Developing an approach to update the anchor windlass with a logistically supportable unit.
- Recapitalizing the entire refrigeration plant with a logistically supportable system. Replacing all of the reefer boxes with a standard Coast Guard configuration.
- Consolidating the compressed air system and redesigning the system to USCG CFR standards for engine starting.
